How to Teach Children

Before considering how to teach children, you should know how much they already know and whether they have any understanding of their studies. For example, can they write and read English, how many spelling mistakes do they make while writing, can they solve math problems, etc. You will need to gain your children’s trust.

If your children’s academic performance is low, you shouldn’t scold or get angry with them every time. Instead, it is beneficial to teach them with love, build their confidence, and encourage them to study with a positive attitude. For this, you will need to pay careful attention. It is important to understand which subjects they like and which subjects they find difficult. Check if they understand basic math and if they know addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Also, check if they know vocabulary and if they can write and read English.

How to Instill Discipline in Children’s Studies –
When your son/daughter comes home from school/college, give them some time to play and pursue their hobbies, and then ask them to study. If possible, once a week or once a month, visit their school/college and get information about their progress from their teachers. If they get low marks in an exam or fail, encourage them to study. Ask them to analyze the subjects in which they scored low marks.

If your children score high marks in a subject or top the exam, give them a surprise. Give them their favorite food. Also, give them stationery supplies as a gift. Do not insult your children in front of relatives or compare them unfavorably to others. Instead, mention one of your child’s positive points. How to know if your son/daughter is intelligent:
Give your children IQ tests and math tests to solve. Based on the marks they get in these tests, you will understand whether your children are intelligent or not. Also, to check if they can read and write properly, occasionally give them a newspaper to read. The IQ test will reveal whether they are intelligent and in which subjects they score low marks. Along with this, ask them questions from the lessons in their school textbooks for various subjects. You can also give them some math problems to solve yourself.

What is the Japanese study method?
Japanese students are famous for their discipline. Whether it’s discipline in life or in studies, no one can compete with the Japanese. In Japan, from a very young age, they are taught basic mathematics, languages, and technology. And they have practice tests every day at school. It is the responsibility of Japanese parents to ensure that their children study after returning from school. In Japan, if a young child is weak in studies, instead of scolding or getting angry at them in school, they are given extra classes in that subject. And their academic progress is checked daily. Along with this, frequent tests are conducted.

How should a child’s study schedule be?
According to the Japanese method, you should revise your studies a little bit every day. For example, if your child studies for 2 hours every day, then half an hour of that time should be reserved for revision. Parents should prepare a daily, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly schedule. Do not study only one subject every day; instead, study at least 2 to 3 subjects a little bit each day. This method increases your comprehension and grasping capacity. Take a 2-4 minute break every half or one hour. How to find out what your children are interested in –
If you want to find out what your children are interested in, you need to ask them which field they would like to work in. Ask them about their favorite subject. Ask the children which field they would like to work in in the future. If they are unclear about their future, ask them to take an IQ and career interest test. Japanese students know from the 5th grade onwards which field they want to pursue a career in.

What is the Gurukul system? –
India is considered the most suitable country for the Gurukul system. In the Gurukul system, from a young age, students leave their homes and go to a residential hostel to study. There is no one to help them there. They have to do their own work. In Gurukul schools, as they grow older, along with their education, they also do some work and receive financial compensation for it.
Discipline is important in the Gurukul education system. In the Gurukul education system, every student gets the opportunity to teach their favorite subject once a month. In the Gurukul system, students are taught to wake up early every morning and study.

Do children need tuition? –
If your children are getting low marks in a particular subject, then they need to join extra classes. However, there is no need to go to coaching classes for all subjects just to be a top student. Many parents force their children to attend tuition classes. Taking more than two tuition classes reduces the students’ interest in studies. And they don’t concentrate on their studies. Then they just pass the time in school.

How to generate curiosity about studying –
Guide them about a subject and career options. Tell them about experts in a particular field or high-paying jobs. Provide them with information about current careers, courses, or degrees. Also, tell them about other countries and career opportunities there. This will generate curiosity, and they will study with enthusiasm. Curiosity will create an interest in studying. Then, they will start studying on their own without you having to tell them.

How to train your children –
It’s not enough to teach them only bookish knowledge; you also need to teach them life skills. Ask them to do small chores around the house. Give your children their freedom, but also teach them the responsibilities and limitations that come with it. Teach them to respect elders. Teach them to treat everyone with love.

Conclusion –
The responsibility of guiding children lies with the parents. Give children freedom, but also instill in them a sense of responsibility and limitations. Nurture their interests and preferences.
